Philadelphia Barking Authority
About UsPhiladelphia Barking Authority is the culmination of a dream of two old high school classmates. From bar stools to dining room tables, the idea was batted around with friends and family for years. Then one day, with their own kids graduated from high school, they found themselves back in the classroom with a business idea that was too good to pass up. And so Philadelphia Barking Authority was born.
WHO WE ARE
MARIA WANENCHAK
Founding Partner
A lifetime dog owner and native of Springfield, Delaware County, Maria worked as a counselor in mental health and substance abuse for over ten years. After the birth of her two kids, she was fortunate enough to stay home for 6 years, taking care of them as well as her aging parents. The next 11 years were spent teaching environmental education to school children and the public at a local arboretum.
Over the years, Maria has volunteered extensively at the Philadelphia Zoo and more recently at an orphaned rhino sanctuary in South Africa. She loves working with animals and looks forward to helping you with your pet care needs.
CHUCK BONFIG
Founding Partner
Chuck is a Delco native and Penn State alum. He married and moved just 10 houses down the street from his parents, into a home filled with kids, dogs, cats and rabbits. After two decades as a VP of sales and marketing, Chuck left the tie and the boardroom behind to take care of pets full time. Most evenings you can also find him leading brewery tours throughout the city. Dogs in the daytime, beers at night – a tough life!
ROWENA GROSS
Growing up in Princeton, NJ, Row became friends with every dog in her neighborhood despite her parents’ wariness of canines. In her 20s she worked as the dog handler for the Seavey sled dog racing family in Alaska, socializing, exercising and training the puppies as well as caring for the remaining dogs while the competitive teams ran the Iditarod. Her working life has included running the Fairbanks Public Library bookmobile, cooking in Seattle restaurants, managing a fair-trade store, working on small farms and all along taking care of friends’ and neighbors’ animals on the side.
WHAT WE DO
OUR SERVICES

DOG WALKING
our dog’s visit includes a walk, playtime, training reinforcement, fresh water, and food if requested. Frequent walks reduce the chance for accidents, provide needed exercise and improve behavior.

PET SITTING
Our professional and bonded pet sitting staff will stay with your pet in your own home while you are away. From 8pm to 8am, a team member will provide for your pet’s every need. In-home care is a preferred alternative to kenneling your furry friend.

CAT/SMALL ANimal Visits
Each visit includes playtime, fresh water, litter/bedding changes, and food if requested. Frequent visits help keep your pet happy and healthy.

PET WASTE REMOVAL
No one enjoys cleaning up after their pets. We will patrol your yard and remove the dog waste so you don’t have to. You can schedule us as frequently as needed.
